Video Dailies
Our beautifully timed video dailies are used for creative editorial so that negative can be re-accessed for a scene-to-scene transfer, or for a negative cut for film printing. We are experts in the match-back to film process. If you are editing on video for release on film, you should contact a negative cutter before sending the film into the laboratory to be developed. This is advised so that the film is transferred with the specifications that a particular negative cutter can use to cut negative from video work-tape.

Following, are several negative cutters located in the DuArt Building. Please note that they are independent companies.

Blow-ups to 35mm from 16mm and Super 16mm
The preeminent place for Blow-ups, DuArt engineered the first computer-controlled optical printing machines able to handle A&B zero-cut AND single-strand-cut negative for conform-in-camera blow-ups!

Our computer controls the printer's movements, minimizing stress on the original negative. Our optical printers are calibrated to the timing information from our Color Analyzers, so our Blow-up Intermediates and Blow-up Prints are beautifully timed.

And because DuArt is expert in handling multiple film formats, our experienced staff handles the most complicated jobs and most discerning clients.

Film Restoration
Restore and rejuvenate older films or give a new film a "classic" look. Call us for more info.

Digital Service Bureau
We also function as a service bureau for capture and output of your creative work.

Cineon Film Scanning
We utilize Kodak's Cineon Genesis Plus Film Scanner. The Cineon offers the highest quality scanning. The Cineon's DXR color technology captures the full dynamic range of the image allowing maximum control over color grading and manipulation. The CCD sensor technology delivers sharp, clean images with zero defects. A pin-registered film transport system maintains superior image steadiness. A positive-pressure filtered-air system eliminates dust. Custom dichroic filters are spectrally tuned to the color dyes in Eastman Color Films to improve color separation, rendition and signal-to-noise ratio. Click here for our scanning specs.

Film Recording
Once your titles and special effects are completed, our Arrilaser Film Recorders can shoot them to 35mm up to 4K resolution.

Tape-to-Film Transfers
We offer outstanding Tape-to-Film transfers to 16mm and 35mm Film. We have a high resolution system to handle the growing demand for 35mm. The 35mm process involves digitizing your video or digital tapes to computer files. For NTSC source material, we convert to 24 frames-per-second with a proprietary algorithmic process that removes frames in a way that limits motion artifacts. Then we uprezz the images to 2K resolution (2048 x 1556 pixels) with interpolation. Our algorithmic process analyzes the original pixels and creates new information (other methods just duplicate original pixels.) We record to 35mm Kodak Intermediate Stocks on one of our two Arrilaser Film Recorders. For long projects, we recommend a 1-minute test to see what it will look like before you commit to the entire job. Take a look at some of our projects.
